Class Material
Writeup: For each class you will create a powerpoint summary of
the material covered. This should include:
- Title of presentation which is your name and the material covered.
- Summary and overview of the material that you want to share.
- Details of a few areas that you found interesting and would like
to share.
These ppt are to be placed by 2pm in the IST 511 dropbox on
Angel before class.
Please be prepared to present all or part of your presentation.
Grading:
Each presentation counts toward your final grade.
Participation:
Class participation is a measure of your
contributions to
the course and a means to assess your intellectual engagement with the
issues
and materials in the course.
Participation means:
- contributing to class discussion (both
in class and online),
- substantive interactions with the
instructor,
- contributing outside material and
events (through both discussion and write-ups) to the class,
- other forms of action that showcase
your personal mastery of the material and issues that this course
covers.
Participation also accrues across the semester,
and not just
at the end. Participation is not the same as air or floor time. The quality of insight is more
important than the quantity of insight/contributions. Class
participation
accumulates with each class through in-class discussion and
interaction. Each student will receive an interim class participation
grade
around mid semester. The remaining
participation grade will be reported after the last class.
Attendance
is mandatory; please see the instructor for
absenses. Unexcused class absences can lead to the loss of all points
for
that class.
For any clarification, please ask the instructor.
